12 Days of Christmas in July: Day 11

Hello,

Welcome to Day 11 of my 12 Days of Christmas in July 2012 series.  My project today is a favor box from the Sweet Treats cartridge.  I made one of the present favor boxes which could be easily mass produced for a party.

I cut my base (from page 47) in white cardstock and it is cut at 4.75" This cut fit within a 12x12" paper.   In this picture I've already scored and folded the tabs.

Next I cut two present images at 4.75" in order to put them on my box.  With this you have to remember to flip one set of images to place it correctly on the other side of the box.  I chose to go with a white, blues and silver wintery theme for my favor box.  The light blue and silver are shimmery cardstock that I got from Michael's.

After gluing my presents together I glued them to my flat box.  It is much easier that way.  The one thing that bothers me about at least this box is that you get a gap on one side about a 1/4" wide.  You can see it better in the next picture.  Anyway I used some red tape to hold my box together.  I also used a couple little pieces of red tape on the bottom to hold it together.  It took me a little while to figure out how to get the bottom to stay together.  The box stands about 4.75" tall, 3" wide and 2.25" deep.

Well every present needs a tag and this one was no different.  This tag is a stamp from Studio G.  I just love the little penguin and he fit in well with my wintery theme.  I simply stamped the image in black ink on white cardstock.  Using my heat embosser I sped along the drying process.  After it was dry I colored in my penguin with a silver metallic marker and Zig Writers in Pure Orange and Blue Jay.  I also added some clear stickles on the penguin's hat.  I used a small hole punch to punch out the hole at the end of the tag.  It fit perfectly.  I strung some Sew Easy Fancy Floss (in Slate) through it.

Here's a close up of the cute little tag.

I used a white twist tie to pull the sides in.  From this view you can also see I popped up the tag with some pop dots.

I hope you enjoyed my Christmas project today.  Come back tomorrow for my last day of my 12 Days of Christmas in July 2012 series.  I will also be linking this to the Christmas in July challenge at Bitten by the Bug 2.

Have a Magical Day!!
Jessica
