12 Days of Christmas in July: Day 8

Hello,

I'm back today with a super cute side step card for Christmas.  I was very excited to learn the Bitten By the Bug 2 Challenge Blog is having a Christmas in July themed challenge this week.  So I'll be linking up my projects from this week of my 12 Days of Christmas in July 2012 series to their challenge.  You can see more information about the Christmas in July challenge here.  Now that I've explained that let's get to today's card.

I found a tutorial on Everday Cricut on how to make an A2 sized side step card.  I decided that I wanted to try making my first ever side step card.  The tutorial is very easy to follow.  I chose to make my base navy to be like the night sky.  After I cut and folded the card I stamped the entire thing in silver ink with a snowflake stamp.  There is a picture of that further down in this post.

For all of my images I used the Create a Critter cartridge and all the images came from page 73.  I used the cute reindeer, a string of lights, the tree accessory and the phrase.

Isn't this just the cutest card?? I had my base cut and folded in navy but I really wanted to add a back piece for my lights and tree to be attached to so I cut a 3.5x3.75" piece of white cardstock.  To add some texture to that piece I ran it through my Cuttlebug using the D'Vine Swirls folder.  The string of lights is cut at 1" and I added some silver gel pen accents to each.  The tree was cut at 2.5".  I didn't cut the layer since you wouldn't be able to see it.  I stamped the green paper with green ink to have a tone-on-tone look.  I also used the same effect on the 0.5x3" piece of green paper in front.  I cut the phrase "JOY" at 2".  I used the same navy cardstock for the bottom layer and silver for the top layer.  The adorable reindeer is cut at 3.5".  I added some red stickles on his nose and popped him up with pop dots.

Here's a picture at a little bit of an angle so you can see the word "JOY" better.

Here's a picture of it more to the side so you can see the steps.

I wanted to show you the silver stamped snowflakes so I took a picture of the back because it was easier to see from that side.

Go Wild...

Hello,
My little sister's birthday is today and I wanted to show you the card I made for her.  She's not as in love with the animal print as I am but I came up with this idea and just couldn't pass it up.  Plus I made it using her favorite color purple so I'm sure she'll love it.
I cut the zebra from Create a Critter at 3".  The "Go Wild" phrase is also from Create a Critter and was cut at 1.5"  The card I made is a standard A2 size card.  I used a black base and the animal print paper is from Michael's.  The pack that you can buy comes with pink zebra print, blue zebra print, traditional white and black zebra print, green leopard print and purple leopard print.  The nice thing about this paper is that it is a solid color on the back and it matches.  No need to find a matching purple.
The first layer of the card is cut at 4 x 5.25".  The next layer was cut at 3.75 x 5" and I used my Cuttlebug to emboss it with the leopard print folder from the Animal Print embossing folders pack.  The black paper is cut at 1.75 x 3.75".  I used the black to help my "Go Wild" phrase stand out better.  It turned out to be a very cute card.
On the inside I used the back of the animal print paper as a mat for my writing.  I also added a detail of the animal print paper at the bottom (1.75 x 3.75").  I stamped "It's Your Birthday!" using some individual letter stamps.
I was all about the animal print with this card.  I even made an animal print liner for the envelope.
I hope you enjoyed this card.
Have a Magical Day :)

Hello There

Hello There,
I recently received the Create a Critter cartridge so I had to make some super cute cards to send to my friends.  The cuts on this cartridge are just too cute.  I've seen lots of projects using this cartridge so I was very excited to get to use it.  I am definitely in love with this cartridge.
Anyway let's get to the first 2 cards I created with this cartridge.
The first card I made for my dear friend uses the owl cut (not sure what size because I lost my paper that had it written down).  I used a light and dark teal polka dot paper from Michael's to make the owl.  I added glossy accents to the beak and claws.  I also added some brown glitter glue to the wings and eyelashes.  The card is a standard A2 size with a layer of Kraft cardstock layer.  I stamped "Hello There" on the inside.
The second card I made for another dear friend with the giraffe cut (again not sure of the size).  The yellow paper for the giraffe is the same line of polka dot paper from Michael's.  This card is also an A2 size card.  The grass paper is from my stash that I've had for years.  It looks like crinkled paper then I cut it to look like grass.  I used D'Vine Swirls Cuttlebug folder on the blue background and the Polka Dots Cuttlebug folder on the clouds.  The clouds are also cuts from Create a Critter cartridge.  I cut the Hello tag and stamped it.

Hope you enjoyed the cards.
Have a Magical Day :)
