Lots of Birthday Cards

Hello,

My two best friends' birthdays are this week so I decided to show you 6 simple birthday cards I made.  For each of the cards I used the Sweet Treats cartridge.  Each card is a standard A2 card (4.25x5.5").  I bought this pack of cardstock from Michael's that has a cupcake pattern.  I have since bought the ribbon and two photo boxes that match the paper.  I just love the way the cupcakes look.  The paper pack came with other patterned paper that matches the patterns on the cupcakes.  So I used two different cupcakes from Sweet Treats to make cupcakes for the cards like those on the paper.

These are the first 2 cards.  The cupcake is from page 24.  It is my rendition of the cupcake on the paper that you can see the bottom and the top of on the card on the right.  The top is above the cupcake cut and the bottom is below the cupcake cut.  I cut a white shadow to help the cupcakes stand out.  I also doodled a little bit around them.  I didn't cut out all the layers just the base, cupcake liner and the swirl.  The cupcake is cut at 3.5"  I used my Corner Chomper (1/4" & 1/2" radius) to round the corners of the base and layers.  I used 1/4" radius on one card and the 1/2" radius on the other.  I did this for each pair of cards.  The measurements of all the layers will be at the end of this post.

The second pair of cards uses the cupcake cut from page 27.  I cut these at 3.5" as well.  You can kind of see the cupcake I modeled it after to the left of the cupcake on the card to the right.  It has the pink paisley pattern for the liner and brown with white polka dots for the top of the cupcake.  I also cut a white shadow for these cupcakes and doodled around the edges to help them stand out.

For my third set of cards I used the present cut from page 46.  They were cut at 4.5" with a black shadow.  I used to different patterned papers (black with white polka dots and the blue with black bows) to make these cards.  I doodled around and on the presents with white and black gel pens to add some dimension.

I simply stamped "Happy Birthday" inside each of the cards.  These cards were very simple and would be easy to mass produce plus everybody needs extra birthday cards.  Even though I'm only handing out 2 of them this week I wanted to have extras on hand in case.

Happy Summer Banner

Hello,

Today's post is the first of my Days of Summer 2012 series.  I made this banner in June but just never took any pictures of it to post online.  Throughout the month of August I'll be posting summer themed projects since we're wrapping up the summer.  I'm slightly sad that summer will be over but then again I'm looking forward to cooler weather and my favorite holidays of the year (Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas).

Isn't it just so cute.  The main colors of my banner were a bright blue, green and yellow.  I cut the rank shape from the Stand and Salute cartridge.  They were all cut at 2.5".  I used the Cricut Craft Room to cut out the letters from the rank cuts.  The letters are from the Alphalicious cartridge.  The letters were all 2.5" as well within the rank cuts.  Then I cut another rank cut in the blue, green and yellow to layer behind my white cuts.  I also an extra of each color as my accents for the banner.  I punched 2 small holes in the top of each in order to string the ribbon through.

I cut each of the images on my accent pieces from the Pack Your Bags cartridge.  The first image is from page 26.  This image is actually a pair of flip flops connected to a pair of sunglasses.  I just cut off the sunglasses part.  I cut the image at 2.5" with a white shadow to help it stand out.  For the cuts on the accent pieces I used other bright colors (pink, orange and purple) so they would stand out more.  I added purple and orange stickles to really make the flip flops pop.

For the middle accent piece I cut the beach ball from page 31.  I used the purple, pink, yellow and blue for my beach ball.  It was cut at 2.5".  I added purple, pink, yellow and blue stickles to the corresponding paper.  I also popped up all the images on pop dots to really help them stand out.

My last accent piece has the bikini cut from page 27.  It was cut at 3" with a white shadow like the flip flops.  I added pink and yellow stickles to the corresponding paper.  I used 3/8" white satin ribbon to string all my pieces together.
